The Ship

Isn't it amazing what a good night's sleep, coffee and sunshine will do. Most hotels in Scandinavian countries give you a nice breakfast buffet as part of your stay. We filled up and enjoyed our coffee in a top floor sunlit room as we listened to conversation in several languages around us. Refreshed we left our bags with another wonderfully helpful desk clerk and we walked off to enjoy our last bit of time in Copenhagen.
We are so impressed with the healthy looking people in the city. So many ride bikes and even have a variety of seats or trailers to carry their families. Most others are out walking.

When we reached the city center square I decided I'd better make use of the public restroom. I was so surprised to see how spotless it was with an attendant on duty and no charge. They were unisex, clean little rooms with a door. But, if you were a man and just had to use a urinal, there was a side room marked - Pissoria. Well there you go!

We started off down the Main Street again with all of the beautiful old buildings and shops, but in it all, America has had it's influence with a McDonalds, Burger King, and 7 Eleven on every corner.

We walked on watching street performers and listening to a guy all in leather sing the John Denver Classic, Take Me Home Country Roads, till we came to another square where drums were pounding as dancing people prepared for a parade in their colorfully dressed costumes. Some were quite scant costumes and Bob volunteered to take the pictures.

We had to stop and head back to the hotel to catch our taxi to the ship. On the way, we passed Tivoli, the worlds second oldest amusement park. We watched people go way up on a tower and spin around in swings. Not for me! But the park looked beautiful with gardens and ponds and rides, right in the middle of town.

Near the park, we passed a Cosmos Bus and checked to see if we might know anyone. Darn we miss you Aussies!

We got back to the hotel just in time to jump in the cab and head off to the ship. We asked the driver to make a quick stop by the Harbour to get a picture of Hans Christian Anderson's Little Mermaid statue. His story does not end as happily as the Disney version.

And then we arrived at our Legend of the Seas Ship. We found out that our ship is one of Royal Caribbean's smaller ships and about 3 or 4 floors shorter than the others we have been on. We were able to get right into our room and were absolutely delighted. I was choked I felt so blessed!

Picture me out that door, on the balcony with the two little chairs and table having coffee even if I have to wear a winter coat!
We left Copenhagen and cruised towards Norway as we enjoyed dinner and met our lovely dinner mates - a couple from Boston, another from Oregon, and one from Germany (but originally from the states). We had great conversation and they finally chased us out of the dining room to make way for others. We are most fortunate.
We went to the energetic show and watched dancers who also worked magic into their routine. We fought to stay awake and make it back to the room to settle in for the night. We watched the sunset with a small freighter passing through. The announcements informed us that tomorrow's sunset would be 10:15 with sunrise at 3:45. Yikes! Good short night!

  3. Everything sounds amazing Mom! I can't wait to see the full resolution pictures. The pets are doing great, we don't see much of Minnie (she has claimed an upstairs room to herself), and Ben is being his big comfortable self, which includes being very good at sneaking Tucker's leftover food. I've got to get a handle on that soon or you're going to return to a circular dog. Have fun, talk to you soon.
